Why this site uses affiliate links

FenuaTravel is an independent guide written by Aurel, a French Polynesia resident since 2019. The site has no display ads (Google AdSense or similar), no pop-ups, no aggressive commercial tracking.

To fund the time spent writing, fact-checking, updating, and hosting the site, I use two revenue sources:

• Direct sale of my PDF guides on /en/guides/ ($10 per guide)
• Affiliate links on certain pages, pointing to platforms I personally use or would recommend regardless

Affiliate links feel like the fairest model: I only recommend what I'd recommend without a commission, and you pay the same price as going directly to the partner site.

What exactly is an affiliate link?

When you click a link flagged as affiliate (to Aviasales, Booking, etc.), the partner site records that FenuaTravel sent you. If you complete a booking (flight, hotel, activity) within the next few hours or days, the partner pays me a commission — typically 1 to 7% of your booking, depending on the partner.

Concretely for you:

• ✅ No extra cost — you pay the exact same price as if you'd landed directly on the partner site.
• ✅ No personal-data tracking — the partner only records "this customer came from FenuaTravel", not your name.
• ✅ No obligation — you can always go directly to Aviasales or Booking without using my links. Zero loss for you.

How I choose my partners

I only accept an affiliate partnership under 3 cumulative conditions:

1. I use the service myself or I have nomad/expat friends who use it regularly and give me feedback.
2. The service actually covers French Polynesia (many "travel" platforms have no offers here).
3. The price shown is the same as direct access (no markup because of the affiliate link).

Concretely: if I discover a partner charging higher prices for visitors coming from my site, I drop the partnership within a week.

How to recognize an affiliate link on this site

Every affiliate link on FenuaTravel follows these 3 rules:

• Marked rel="nofollow sponsored" in HTML — the Google standard signaling to search engines that it's a commercial link.
• Contextual mention like "(affiliate link)" or "(partner)" near the link or at the section's footer.
• Clearly identifiable button or text — no visual deception, no fake "Download" button that leads to a sales page.

Non-affiliate links on the site

Many links on FenuaTravel are NOT affiliate links. Notably:

• Links to Air Tahiti, Air France, French Bee (airlines — no affiliate program for French Polynesia routes at the time of writing)
• Links to local family pensions and independent Polynesian providers
• Links to information sources (Wikipedia, institutional sites, local press)
• Internal links to other FenuaTravel pages

No obligation for these links, so no special mention.

Your rights (GDPR and French law)

In accordance with the French LCEN law and Consumer Code, I am required to:

• Clearly indicate when content is commercial (this page fulfills that requirement)
• Mark affiliate links accordingly (contextual mention + HTML tag)
• Not deceive visitors about the commercial nature of a recommendation

On GDPR: no personal data is collected on FenuaTravel through affiliate links. Tracking happens on the partner's side (Aviasales, Booking…) when you click. If you'd rather not be tracked, you can set your browser to "Do Not Track" or use a blocker extension — this won't affect your browsing on FenuaTravel in any way.
