Service 3 of 4

On-the-ground support

I am with you during your scouting trip. Not to show you around — to make you check. Six hours a day, in Moorea and Tahiti where I live, and in the Leeward Islands where I spent five years.

What I do

A typical day

We test the connection for real

In the property you are viewing, at the hour you would take your calls, on your own equipment. Upload and download, latency to Europe or North America, stability on video, VPN behaviour. Not island-wide coverage: the reality at that address.

We go and see the discouraging parts

The price of a weekly shop at the store you would actually use. The wait at the health centre. Freight costs and delays. The road at night. What lagoon photographs never show, and what makes people leave after eighteen months.

I introduce you to people

Estate agents, tradespeople, head teachers, community groups, others who arrived two or three years ago. Briefed that you are coming, met directly, and I earn nothing on any of them.

I translate the context

What gets said and what does not, what is done and what is not. How a commune works, the weight of a family, what a word in Tahitian carries. The part no document gives you.

That is €350 per working day, six hours of actual support. Ground transport on Moorea included. Travel to the Leeward Islands is added at cost, for you as for me.

Launch rate

€350 a day is an opening price, and I say so plainly. For scale: a private half-day tour of Moorea, vehicle included and no expertise involved, sells for around €400; an independent consultant in France rarely charges under €450 a day. This rate moves to €450 after my first three assignments, and anyone who books before then keeps the original price for their whole engagement, even if it takes place later.

Ground truth

Why I can compare two archipelagos

I have lived in French Polynesia since June 2019: two years in Tahiti, nearly five in Raiatea, and Moorea since April 2026. I have made this move three times for real — freight, cancellations, house hunting, and the time it takes to know people.

The Windward Islands

Moorea and Tahiti: services, government offices, specialist healthcare, international flights, a wider rental market. In exchange: more people, higher prices, and a ferry you quickly depend on.

The Leeward Islands

Raiatea, Tahaa, Huahine, Bora Bora: space, quiet, faster social ties. In exchange: logistics, healthcare, schooling beyond a certain level, and the price of an unplanned flight to Tahiti.

What the move taught me

What made me leave Raiatea after five years had nothing to do with what I imagined on arriving. That gap is exactly what I help you anticipate.

Comparing, not selling an island

I have no island to defend. I have lived on three, and none was the right choice for every stage of my life.

The frame

What I do not do, and why

I am a consultant, not a travel agent or an excursion operator. The distinction is not administrative: it decides who carries the risk on your bookings, and where your money goes.

  1. I book nothing for you. Not flights, accommodation, cars or restaurants. I give you the contact, you call.
  2. I collect nothing on behalf of third parties. You pay each provider directly, at their own price.
  3. I sell no excursions and organise no leisure outings. This is not a holiday, it is a scouting trip.
  4. I take no commission on anything you buy during the assignment. That is what leaves me free to warn you off anyone.
Safety and responsibility

You remain responsible for your own safety, insurance and physical condition, particularly on boat transfers and hiking trails. Full terms are in the French-language conditions.

Availability

One client at a time

I never run two assignments in parallel and I do not take groups. That caps me at roughly two assignments a month. Allow two to three months between deciding and the dates — which is also the time proper preparation takes, and the time needed to arrange flights if the assignment leaves the Windward Islands.

Scouting preparation is strongly recommended before you come. Its €450 is credited against the support invoice if both happen within six months.

First step

Twenty minutes, free, no strings

You tell me where you are, I tell you straight whether your plan holds up — and I say so when it does not.

Discuss an assignment

Reply within two working days. French Polynesia is at UTC−10, so slots usually land in my morning, which is late afternoon in Europe and early evening on the US East Coast.
