Tikehau: confirm the transfer before the flight

Tikehau’s visitor experience depends heavily on the exact motu or village location. A stay in or near Tuherahera is not organised in the same way as an isolated lagoon property. Ask how the airport, accommodation and activity departures connect.

An atoll is not a compact resort

Lagoon distances are travelled by boat, and services are limited outside the main village area. Confirm meals, drinking water, electricity, mobile or internet access and every paid transfer before choosing an isolated stay.

Check both directions and baggage conditions with Air Tahiti. Protect the international departure with a Tahiti buffer.

Pickup

Ask the accommodation for the meeting point, vehicle or boat, luggage limit and delay procedure.

Supplies

If self-catering, verify what can actually be purchased, on which days, and how it reaches the accommodation.

Choose by conditions and ability

Lagoon excursion

Ask about duration, shade, water, meals, landing type, flotation equipment, environmental rules and weather cancellation.

Diving

Share certification and recent experience. Confirm the site selected for the day, current assessment, equipment, guide ratio and medical requirements.

Snorkeling

Do not interpret clear water as absence of current. Confirm supervision, entry, depth and whether the site suits each swimmer.

Village and bicycle

A slow land day can complement boat activities. Check heat, rain, lighting, bicycle condition and where access is public.

Four nights with a fallback

Arrival and orientation around the actual base.
One priority lagoon or diving activity.
One village or slower local day.
One flexible day for weather, rest or a second activity.

Do not reserve incompatible boat trips on every day. Weather can move an excursion, and a free day protects the value of the stay.

Limits to plan for

Prepare autonomy without exaggerating isolation

Carry personal medicines, sun protection and an offline copy of essential bookings. Ask the accommodation about drinking water and the nearest appropriate care. Remote workers should obtain evidence for the exact address and maintain a mobile or offline fallback; connectivity is not guaranteed by an island-level claim.
